«

Please advise when is the time line to change for timing belt, noted from
the manual was recommended by 100,000km used!!
Should i follow as per-manual recomended or i should change ealier
by,,,,let says at 75 - 80,000km or else..
As my current Kenari'03 has being 4 years rides and nearly clocked to
70,000km. Beside of timing belt, what about others belt such of fan...etc
belt should be carry the change as well.

Change it all at 100,000km. Did it for my Kancil and Kenari. No issue.
Buy the original Daihatsu timing belt. At least you'll know for sure it
is designed to last 100,000km.
My Kenari was 7 years when it hit 100,000km and at that time. Changed the
timing belt, the tension bearing, the 2 oil seals and all the other fan
belts.
Hope this helps. And don't bother listening to all the BS about needing
to change at 70,000 etc. What manual says just follow. Make sure you
replace with the original belt.

nah.. you dont need to change those before 100k km. unless you suspect there is something wrong with the engine. i have a friend who uses his car up till 200k km before changing his timing belt (of course after the car broke down lo).
for the fan belt.. you can change em when it makes squeeking sounds. or when they lose it's elasticity. i changed mine at 100k km though.

in japan there got a spray to silent up the squeaking sound. you just spray it in the inside part of the belt while the engine starts. i've used it once several years ago and the squeaking sound disappears since.

Ya, better stick to the user manual accordingly, my ex-sunny putus once, total cost me RM800++, really depend on luck, it depend on which valve open and bang by the piston, more valves , the more $$ , my case is all valve, so kena jaga.
as for the spray, it works, but after kena water, have to spray again.

I fix it at Tan Chong SC, so is that price lo, coz breakdown at Nilai and i got a toll free membership form TCM, so, the toll is free, but have to fix there lo. kena potong. and some more all 8 valve gone, casket, bla bla bla have to change, actually my mother work in TCM, 10% parts and 15% labour, after less is about 700, too long ago, cannot remember clearly. i own 3 Nissan, 2 of them already spend me 3 to 5K for just this 4 years in repair itself. hopefully my current Nissan will got give problem...

yeps.. foreign cars might give you more pain to your wallet.. timing belt may bring more problems to your car than you could even imagine. but from what i heard, it might give you some warning before breaking of.. lost of power, or something like that?? correct me if i'm wrong..

I'm not sure or aware about the warning, coz it seems to be normal as usual, then suddenly engine die, i think no warning will come from any car maker as well, coz
1. the timing belt putus like you pulling a string, not a rubber band, so stright away without warning, by the time you notice, is already happen.
2. Many of those BIG CC car use timing chain, it will maybe take you forever to break it. and Big CC car doen't have noticeable different in term of belt or chain. at the same time, better reputation to minimize the break down.
3. Compact or small CC car designer will consider putting more toque and HP versus less consumable parts, moreover, they get the $$ back when you repair or replace. and scrap car do apply on many developed countries, so by the time your timing belt nearly wareout , the car probably been chop and send to other countries, so consider wash hand.
4. And they warn you at the 1st place, the responsibility is on your side. you get what you pay lo.
maybe thats more reason behind, but as you see, why putting affort on such warning thing coz it won't help you sales at all, and again is a business driven company, all play by figure.
Bro xazuru, i'm not correcting you, but is just IMHO on this matter.

No choice lo.. i remember about Timing chain have sort of warning as i get info from others, they says the engine idle time have some cranky metal sound from the chain part, will not easily break but is about time to change to avoid any chances of break down. i don't know will this apply on the timing belt as well or not.

Hi Bro,
Original Timing belt can last you for 100000km,
Their many 'kind' of timimg belt outside the market, eg, cheaper belt will only able to last you for 60000km.
As a timing kit, it consist of one timing belt, 1 timing tension bearing, 2 timimg bearings.
You can also change your water pump as well, as to save labour charges too.
Cheers.
