Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) targets to sell 13,000 units of its newly launched Perodua Viva Elite variant this year.

This sporty Viva Elite would be well received by young professionals and young families seeking to project a different image. Viva was one of Perodua’s best selling models with 155,000 units sold since it was launched in May 2007.

77,000 cars sold by Perodua in the first half year, 53% comprised the Myvi and 43% Viva. Not yet found any promotion yet, like Merdeka promtotion. The 1-litre Viva Elite comes in three variants – the Elite (MT), Elite (AT) and the Elite EZi. Prices start at RM37,900 for the Elite (MT), RM40,900 for the Elite (AT) and RM44,900 for the Elite EZi.

It almost official in the news today, Perodua MPV ALZA soon will be launched in November 2009. We can expect they will be open for booking late September ( too late for your HARI RAYA ride :) ).
As we know Perodua MPV is launch only after a rebadge of Toyota (Passo Sette) and Daihatsu (Boon Luminas) have their own model  market launch early this year. Updates : Spyshot Video of the new Perodua MPV ALZA

Transport Minister Datuk Ong Tee Keat said the local carmaker had allocated a total of RM41.8 million to supply and install the rear seat belts for its Kancil, Kenari, Kelisa, Kembara and Rusa models.

Speaking to reporters, he said for security reason, however, the installation could only be made at Perodua service centres.

Earlier, Ong witnessed the signing of memorandum of understanding between the Road Safety Department and Perodua to implement a community-based automative safety programme.

The government had made it compulsory for rear passengers to wear seat belts from Jan 1 next year but cars registered before 1995, which are without the safety feature, were given a three-year grace period from June 1 this year to install the belts.

Ong said last month that apart from Perodua, several other car manufacturers would provide free installation of the seat belts.

22-10-2007: Demand for Myvi continues to surprise

Perodua sales were still being driven by its Myvi model, for which orders had surged back to between 8,000 and 9,000 units a month despite having been in the market for over two years.

Even with a monthly production 8000 units they still have a three month backlog. Basically they still don't know why the orders rising.
